The Legend of the Candy Cane

I am not sure if you all have heard the legend of the candy cane.  But here it is...

According to the legend, there was candy maker who wanted to invent a candy that was a witness to Christ.
The result was the candy cane.  First of all he used a hard candy because Christ was the Rock of all ages.  This hard candy was shaped s that it would resemble either a "J" for Jesus or a shepherd's staff.  He made it white to represent the Purity of Christ. Finally a red stripe was added to represent the blood of Christ shed for the sins of the world and three thinner stripes for the stripes He received on our behalf when the Roman soldiers whipped Him.

So the next time you see a candy cane, hear the Sermon it preaches: Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, is the Rock of all Ages who suffered and died for our sins.



I got that from my Wednesday night church teacher.
It is so wonderful that that man made the Candy Cane. But one thing is that (most likely) some people don't know.

Jesus Christ died for OUR sins.  He did it so that we could be with Him when we die.  He was mocked, spit on, whipped, they put a crown of thorns on His head and nailed Him to a cross.  If you would just think about this, what He did for you and me.  He did so much for us.  This Christmas let's really think about what He did. How much He has blessed us and how powerful He is.  One day He will come back for His people. Let's be ready to go home and be with the Lord.

Here is a story that I am typing.  I have the sheet in front of me and I am copying what it says. Please read this.  I know it might look long, but pleeeeeeaaassseee read it.  It is really cool!
The Cross in Our Bodies
This is a pretty neat story and an interesting thing that few of us know.  It's brief, so please read. (FROM A DOCTOR)

A couple of days ago I was running (I use that term very loosely) on my treadmill, watching a DVD sermon by Louie Giglio...And I was BLOWN AWAY! I want to share what I learned.
He (Louie) was talking about how inconceivably BIG our God is...How He spoke the universe into being...Ect. Etc.  Then He went on to speak of how this universe-creating God ALSO knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder.  At this point I am LOVING it (fascinating from a medical standpoint, you know).  And I was remembering how I was constantly amazed during medical school as I learned more and more about God's handiwork. I remember so many times thinking..'How can ANYONE deny that a Creator did all of this???'

The God, who created all this also have the power to hold it all together when things seem to be falling apart...how our loving Creator is also our sustainer.

And then I lost my breath.  And it wasn't because I was running my treadmill, either!!!

It was because he started talking about laminin.  I knew about laminin..Here is how Wikipedia describes them: 'Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every animal tissue' You see...Laminins are what hold us together...LITERALLY.  They are cell adhesion molecules.  They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell.  Without them, we would literally fall apart.  And I knew all this already.  But what I didn't know is what they LOOKED LIKE..

But now I do.  And I have thought about it a thousand times since (already)....Here is what the structure of laminin looks like...AND THIS IS NOT a 'Christian portrayal' of it....If you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature, this is what you will see...

Now tell me that our God is not the coolest!!! Amazing. The glue that holds us together....ALL of us....Is in the shape of the cross.  Immediately Colossians 1:15-17 comes to mind.

He is before all things, and in him ALL things HOLD TOGETHER.'

Thousands of years before the world knew anything about laminin, Paul penned those words.  And now we see that from a very LITERAL standpoint, we are held together... One cell to another....By the cross.

You would never in aquadrillion years convince me that is anything other than the mark of a Creator who knew EXACTLY what laminin 'glue' would look like!!

DRAWING!!!

Tonight we will be watching Wall-E.
And today my brother (Daniel) got an Ipod touch.

And right now we are watching AFV!  Not very exciting but what else am I going to tell you?
I have been doing school lately  (like everybody).

HELLO!!!

I have not posted in a while so please forgive me but there is just not much to say.  

Yesterday we went to Natural Bridge.   We went with our homeschool group and it was pretty cool.   I went on a hike with some other girls but some of them went back before we did (I and this other girl).  We didn't finish the whole hike.   There was a bigger bridge and then a smaller one (I think it was branching off).  The one you see in the picture I think was the smaller one.

I have decided to quit my blog.  Nobody seems interested in it so that is why I am quitting if you are wondering.  I will have a couple more posts after this but that is it.  It breaks my heart to leave you all, but it is something I have to do. (dramatic pause)

Jokes

Today and yesterday we had some friends over. Today I played a joke on my friend Katie.  I pretended like I tried a new recipe of Lemonade but I didn't. I put some Mayonnaise in her water, there were little chunks of Mayonnaise in the cup so I just said that I put some lemon powder in it (I don't know if lemon powder exists). So I made a story and she drank the "Lemonade" and did not like it, duh. I found out later that she doesn't like Mayonnaise any way.

We also did some prank calls. The first one we were going to do on a man on our street. We were going to pretend that Katie (the one with the "Lemonade") was Barbie. So she came up with this weird wabber jabber. And so we called the man he answered and Katie chickened out. So I couldn't do it because he knows me. So we hung up and decided we would try again. So then we did the Barbie wabber jabber with someone else, but this time I was Ken. So my brother texted his friend and told him to call us. Ken (me) answered and said, "Barbie wants to talk to you." I said it in a manly voice but I don't know if it was that good. So then Barbie did her thing and it was funny.

Then we did another prank call to a family. We left a message on there phone, but this time it was Mary HAD a little lamb. So Katie again did the call. But I had another part with someone else. But the someone else ruined it by laughing.

Oh, and our younger siblings decided they would do some pranks of their own. They stole one of the mom's shoes. And called Daniel's cell phone a million times.
Well that is today.

You all know that we have a pool.
But today we had a big storm. Tons and tons of rain fell. And the wind was big too.
Oh, I have to tell you this story. I don't think I have before.
One time our electricity was out so our drink thing on our refrigerator would not work. So one time Daniel went up to it and pressed the thing that squirts it out and it would not come out so he said, "Hey look, it's not coming out." So then he pressed it with his hand and said, "Hey look it's not coming out." So when he does it, the power cuts on and the water comes out.
That was not recently but I wanted to tell you that.
Well not much new here.

Missionary books.

This is Amy Carmichael. I just recently finished this book. These books are about christians that have followed God's plan for them, I really LOVE reading these books because one day I hope God tells me to be a missionary. Amy took care of a bunch of children, and if you like reading about missionaries I suggest you read them, even if you don't these books might change your mind.

I finished Hudson Tayler a while ago. I don't remember a whole lot about him so maybe I should read the book again.

Corrie Ten Boom I am still reading but I have heard things about her. But I already think it is a good book. These people really loved the Lord, you can see it through reading the book.

George Muller suffered (at least from what I remember my mom telling me) from (I think bad) head aches. And I remember him reading through the bible a ton of times. When he was young he would not pay people what he owed and just was not following the Lord but he grew into a man of God. And I think he lost a child or a couple and maybe his wife.
Sorry, we read this a while back.

We got a new pool!

I am so happy we got another pool! The same kind but different.
I just thought I would share this with you because I have been talking to you about how the pool has a leak.

The pool has a leak! I am so disappointed. We have to drain it and take it down, put it in the box and then take it back, we also have to get a new one and set it up.
Well.....we are all sad about that.

My Daddy!

I am so glad that my dad is still alive.

On wednesday he was on his way home, when something fell out of someone's car and tore up my dad's wheel. It could of been worse. And this happened at night. I am so thankful to God for keeping him and us safe, and letting me still have a dad.

We are the champs!

We won! We are the champs at Shelby YMCA!

Soccer!

You know how Preston and I play soccer? Well we actually won tonight, and this game was important! Tomorrow since we won we get to go to a tournament. If we win tomorrow we will be number 1 in Shelby. And if not I guess we will  be number two in Shelby. So either way we are doing pretty good. I just wanted to share that with all of you!

THE ULTIMATE HERO

Long ago in a place where lots and lots of bad things happened, there was one person. That person was very caring. Some people hated him, they wanted nothing to do with him and even wanted to kill him.  But then there were other people that loved this man and what he was doing. People tried to kill him but it never worked. Do you want to know about him and why people loved him? Well if you do, then I will tell you. The Ultimate Hero was a very kind man that would help people, in-fact he helped everyone in the earth, some people would not except the gift but others did, and I tell you that excepting him was the best choice you could make. He would heal people when they were sick and make people see when they were blind, he cared for the poorest of the poor and the richest of the rich, even if they wanted to kill him, and even if they did cruel things. Do you know about him? I do, and it is my and everyone else's job to tell other people about him. And one thing that he did was walk on the surface of the water, now thats amazing....but what isn't that he did? He fasted for 40 day and 40 nights. He was....I will get to that part later. Maybe you have heard of him but just not wanted him in your life. Maybe this story will change your mind. He payed the biggest price for you, whether you like it or not, he loves you, whether you like it or not, he payed that price. Maybe you don't know exactly what he did so let me tell you, he did nothing wrong but yet....he was charged. They spit on him mocked him whipped him, jabbed thorns in his head, made him carry the cross, stabbed him, nailed him to the cross, and while they were doing this to him he called out and said to God, "Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." In the midst of that he said forgive them. Now you can't tell me that is not love, because I know it is.  He fulfilled the prophesy, died and then he rose again. And his name is....Jesus. Let Him in, he wants to be apart of your life, he wants what is best for you, he loves you, he died for you. And His love is what I call real love. I have excepted him and I hope you do too. We are moving!

We are getting ready to move! If you don't know we are moving to Gadsden. We aren't sure what house we are going to live in we just have to trust in God. My mom is painting the down stairs playroom, Yellow. It was a dark red and so we are changing it. It used to be six months till my dad would get his job there and now it is only about two months. This house and town is at least one of my favorite places I have lived. This is where Gabriel was born, this is where we found a wonderful church, this is where I have wonderful friends (of course everywhere I have lived I have wonderful friends), this is where my walk with God grew, and this is where we had a wonderful time in life, of course we have a wonderful time in life always, but I love it here!

But no matter where I move you will always be my friends!

I had a good Easter did you all?
On Easter there is one thing that I found out that I am not fond of. Here is the Origin of the word Easter from the dictionary: Old English eastre (I am spelling Eastre right); of Germanic origin and related to German ostern and East OR according to Bede the word is derived from Eastre, the name of a goddess associated with spring. Now if you ask me that doesn't make sense. Here we are celebrating Jesus rising from the dead, a great day that also shows us his power and fulfilling God's word and we by that get to go to heaven to be with him and we call the day something to do with a goddess of spring. Why? I don't know about you, but I don't like that.
But I did have a fine Easter...or maybe I could call it Resurrection Day.

Circus

My Grandmother took me and my family to the circus in Montgomery and we had a great time. There were these two girls that had hooks in their hair and hooked the hooks on a rope and then went in the air holding there selves by their hair! It was really cool! I posted some picture of some things. Oh there was also trained cats and Lions, and elephants! It was so cool. And then they had some people that would shoot each other in the air on things like sea-saws. It was really cool! We also got pretty good seats. There was some lights that would like move around and Gabriel liked that. It was fun!

Here is Gabriel when he was just born. I think that picture is so cute, him yawning helps the picture but if he was not yawning it still would have been cute! He was so tiny! I wish I could hold him again when he was that little.

Spring!!!!

Spring is so beautiful!! All the flowers bloom. And it helps to show how beautiful God's creation is. He is the best artist ever. He truly is wonderful and amazing!

This is a picture I took on my mac computer. We have this thing on out computer called i-photo and I edited it and made it like this!

Hey, I and my friends are making a movie called Toads and Diamonds 2: The Runaway Girl and I half way made my outfit and this picture helped me. Now my dress has a pretty long tail in the back and I have a crown thing kind of like the one she is wearing. The first Toads and Diamonds was fun and this one is going to be fun as well. Toads and Diamonds is actually a fairy tale, I took it and tweaked it. This one I had the story written already and I got it and again tweaked it but this time with 2 other girls.
